Join the Team
How do I join?
TrickFire Robotics is open to all students currently enrolled at the University of Washington Bothell. We do, however, have an application process to help make sure our members are ready to put their best foot forward.
When can I apply?
The application for the 2017-2018 school year is now closed. Please come back to apply next year!
Application Opens: 28 April 2017
Priority Deadline: 16 June 2017
Application Closes: 18 August 2017
What do I need to apply?
- A strong desire to learn!
- An updated unofficial transcript
- A minimum GPA of 2.5
How will my GPA affect my application?
When looking at your transcript we are namely concerned with whether or not you have taken relevant coursework and how you performed in those classes. Additionally, being on this team is a large time commitment, and we want to make sure you are prioritizing your schoolwork. Seeing your performance will help us gauge whether or not you can handle the added workload.
Do I need to have experience or be in a STEM major?
No! We are open to anyone willing to apply themselves and learn, regardless of intended or current major, or experience. Specifically, we're looking for outgoing applicants who can learn necessary skills on the fly or on their own time, and are eager to tackle new and unexpected challenges.
NOTE: If you have limited experience, apply before the priority deadline! Any applicants we take on during this period will have all of our off-season quarter to learn, and acclimate themselves to our team setting. It becomes harder and harder to bring on new members as we near the start of competition, and it is much less likely that we will accept you without experience after the priority deadline.
I applied. Now what?
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We will contact you as soon as we have made a decision, which could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. In addition, we may request that you schedule an interview. Regardless of our decision, we will attempt to contact you as soon as possible, but we have several applications to review, and have to accommodate our class schedules.
